Kisumu Turning Waste to Jobs Project-Households Baseline

The Kisumu Turning Waste to Jobs Project - Households Baseline, conducted in collaboration with unhabitat, csudp and Kisumu City, aimed to advance community-based solid waste management and establish a facilitating framework for a Public Private People Partnership (PPPP) in the low-income areas and informal settlements of Kisumu City, Kenya.

The primary objective guiding this study is to answer the central question: "Who has ownership of the lake: Women or Men?" To address this query, the baseline survey encompasses the following key aspects:
  • Zones 1, 2, and 3 had 69, 67, and 66 households.
  • High, medium, and low-income categories had 62, 75, and 65 households

This data informs targeted interventions for waste management and urban development, promoting inclusive renewal. Our project demonstrates commitment to sustainable growth, providing essential data for strategic decisions in Kisumu City. We continue to partner for sustainable urban development.
